Puppy Socialization
Our puppy socialization class is for puppies 9-18 weeks of age. The purpose of the class is for your puppy to become comfortably socialized with other dogs and strangers, as well as, develop bite inhibition (i.e., learning how hard is too hard to bite). We also help prepare your puppy for routine veterinary visits and grooming procedures. Your puppy will have pleasant experiences with strangers approaching and handling them, preventing aggressive behavior as an adult. Additionally, basic obedience and manners are incorporated into the class. One important aspect of the class is that all of the puppies are off-leash for a majority of the class. Therefore, your puppy will begin learning and listening to you free of gadgets and leashes. What a great start to off leash obedience! A puppy’s socialization period is such a short window of time and the class capitalizes on this important period. Class is geared towards helping mold your puppy into a well socialized, confident, and friendly adult dog.
Puppy Obedience
Our puppy obedience class is a partially off-leash course. We focus on manners and obedience behaviors that will be beneficial throughout the life of your dog. Obedience behaviors taught include sit, down, stay, come and leash walking. These behaviors will be taught on and off-leash. We require that all dogs be friendly with other dogs prior to enrolling in the obedience class. By the end of class, you should be able to ask your dog to sit and stay while off leash. You should be able to call your dog to you while they are distracted with another dog, human, or various smells throughout the room. Lastly, you should be able to pass other dogs and greet their owners while your dog remains in heel position.
Advanced Obedience
Our advanced obedience class is for customers who want to take the next step with their dog’s obedience. This class focuses on building existing obedience behaviors to advanced levels by incorporating high level distractions. By the end of this class you should be able to bring your dog to a local (dog-friendly) outdoor restaurant or coffee shop and expect them to hold a down/stay the entire outing. You should be able to walk in any busy environment with your dog maintaining heel position. You should also be able to rely on your dog’s recall in different distracting environments.
